The US actress Debbie Reynolds has died, only a day following the tragic passing of her beloved daughter Carrie Fisher who was best known as Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, according to her son.
Reports are circulating throughout US media that the 84-year-old had suffered a serious stroke. She was subsequently transported to a Los Angeles hospital earlier in the day (29 December 2016).
The respected actress was best recognised for her role in the 1952 musical “Singin’ in the Rain”, alongside legendary actor Gene Kelly. She also played a key role in her children’s life, notably with daughter Carrie Fisher, who passed away only a day before her mother.
Fisher who was best recognised for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars series over the past few decades died on Tuesday after suffering a cardiac arrest on a plane flight from London to LA. Reports said that she was unresponsive for 10 minutes before ground pramedics reached her.
